The Forbidden Photo

Yes, it happens

The instant I was focusing this scene with my camera, a man passed by my side and told me not to take this pic. He was angry. There I understood that some people don't want to open their eyes to reality, or perhaps it makes them feel bad and they feel affected their bubble of happiness. Then I saw the pic, and the eyes of the child caught me and told me that I chose the right decission.

Definitely the right decision, her gaze looks haunted. Great picture.

Yes, this is a great picture, but it's true - it's hard to accept the reality of the photo.

What am I missing? I don't understand the man's reaction. It's an excellent photo.

Sin Alma gives a interesting counterpoint for your picture. Beware of appearance.

Good shot BTW...

My relatives did not want me taking pictures of the poor parts of Lima. They wanted me to focus on the richer parts like Baranco and Mira Flores. But the reality is that here are is a lot of poverty in Peru and the majority of people live there.

I do think that your picture does one injustice, it continue the stereotype of the typical Peruvian having that typical Inca look. I thought most women in Peru were very beautiful and did not fit the stereotypical Andean look, nor the white European look found in so many advertisements and television personalities.

I have never been to Trujillo. I have been to Lima, Arequipa, Puno, Cuso, Ica, and Paracas.

This is an absolutely stunning picture. You should perhaps send it to BBC or other places.

I absolutely agree with you that you have made the right decision. I originally come from India and thus understand what you mean when you say that people get angry for showing the reality. But we need to give voices to those that don't have.
